Avon Australia expanded their long support of the breast cancer cause with their first breast cancer walk on October 23, 2005 in Newcastle. Thousands were on hand for this event, which was a tremendous success generating much needed awareness about the important message of breast cancer awareness, early detection and the programs of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade

Event: Great Pink Wall Walk
Breast Cancer Survivor Participant: Visitor survivor from Japan, Mchiko Chosa passed on the Global Connection Ribbon to local survivor Wang Baoling
Avon China leveraged their most famous landmark – the Great Wall of China – to bring attention to the important issues of breast cancer in China and around the world. The historic Great Wall was adorned with pink flags on October 21, 2005, and more than 300 participants walked the Great Pink Wall. Beyond raising awareness, Avon China also delivered lifesaving services, offering participating women free clinical breast exams by medical personnel. Media from around the world covered this event, which was the first of its kind for Avon China.

Event: Three Smile Walks
Breast Cancer Survivor Participant: Visitor survivor from Taiwan, Tseng Kuei Hua passed on the Global Connection Ribbon to local survivor Michiko Chosa
Avon Japan continued their successful support of the breast cancer cause with three Smile Walks in October, including one in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo with 5,000 people on October 10, 2005 and another in Kagoshima on October 16, 2005 bringing together more than 500 participants. The numerous Avon Japan breast cancer events received extensive media coverage, helping spread the important message of early detection and helping to break the stigma of breast cancer.

COUNTRY: PHILIPPINES

Event: Two breast cancer Walks and an awareness event
Fundraising: Raised US$22,355, which was matched by the Avon Foundation. Funds were awarded to the Philippines Cancer Society.
Breast Cancer Survivor Participant: Visitor survivor from China, Wang Baoling passed on the Global Connection Ribbon to local survivor Cynthia Mah Feliciano
Avon Philippines held the final of their three breast cancer events on October 23, 2005 in the capital city of Manila. Following two other walks in Davao and Cebu, the Manila event was the largest of the three. The event included respected doctors, local celebrities and members of the community. The event generated tremendous media coverage as thousands of participants walked the streets to raise much needed awareness for the breast cancer issue. As a sign of the solidarity, each participant wore a specially designed pink and white cuff bracelet which was later featured in a wide variety of magazines and newspapers.

Event: Family Day Walk
Breast Cancer Survivor Participant: Visitor survivor from Australia, Elizabeth Rayna passed on the Global Connection Ribbon to local survivor Tseng Kuei Hua
On October 29 in the Square of Taipei, Avon Taiwan participated with a Family Day Walk that brought together Avon Associates, Representatives, Zone Managers and Customers. The more than 500 participants were offered free clinical breast exams by medical personnel and important information on breast health.
