FUNDRAISING
Running to End Domestic Violence
Thanks to thousands of runners, volunteers and donors, important
lifesaving funds and awareness were raised as part of the Avon
Foundation Need For Speed Against Domestic Violence National Relay
Series. From 2006 through 2008, more than $820,000
has been raised through running relays across the country in effort
to create a world in which violence is unacceptable. Through 2008,
the Avon Foundation has awarded more than $10 million to 350
domestic violence organizations in the U.S. alone.
In 2009, domestic violence prevention and awareness remain a
focal point of the Avon Foundation mission and we will embark on
some new initiatives to advance our domestic violence and women’s
empowerment efforts. Click here to learn more about these
programs and how you can take part.
Thank you for your continued support of the domestic violence
cause.

Premiere Benefits Speak Out Against Domestic Violence
With the support of Avon celebrity spokesperson Salma Hayek, the star-studded New York City premiere of Ms. Hayek's movie, After the Sunset, served as the first fundraising event for the new Avon Foundation Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program in November 2004.
The Avon Foundation awarded all proceeds from the premier to the New York City Family Justice Center, the first in a national initiative to create Family Justice Centers to make it easier for victims of domestic violence to find help and justice by bringing many services together under one roof. These vital services include law enforcement assistance, social services, employment assistance, counseling and housing assistance. There are now more than 30 Family Justice Centers across the U.S. helping victims get all the services they need.
