NEW YORK (October 2004) – This month Avon and mark, the new beauty business from Avon, join together to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer through the introduction of three new “Pink Ribbon” products: Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Celebrity Nailwear, Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Holiday Ornament, and the mark Kiss Kit. All net proceeds from the sales of these three products (ranging from 63-82% of the purchase price depending upon the product) support the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

The stars are out to support our Crusade! The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Celebrity Nailwear will be available exclusively through the month of October for $3.00. On the front of the ornament is the pink ribbon made up of graduated pink rhinestones and accented with starburst details. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Holiday Ornament will be available for $7.50 beginning in October, through the holiday season.

About Breast Cancer
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer is the most common cancer among women after nonmelanoma skin cancers, and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. In 2003, the ACS estimated about 211,300 new cases of invasive breast cancer (stages I to IV) would be diagnosed in the U.S. In addition, carcinoma in situ (stage 0), which is noninvasive and the earliest form of breast cancer, is estimated to account for about 55,700 new cases each year.
