The Avon Foundation supports organizations and programs that provide women with economic opportunity. These include programs that offer women the ability to acquire the skills and support they need to become economically secure.

Organizations based in the New York City area and organizations with national programs should contact the Avon Foundation in New York City. Regional and local organizations should contact the Avon office closest to them.

The Avon Foundation makes grants only to organizations and institutions having tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Avon Foundation seeks to encourage candidates for grants to recognize the importance of diversity and accordingly, will not make a contribution to any organization that cannot demonstrate a sincere commitment to individual diversity and does not adhere to national equal opportunity policies.

The Avon Foundation has a rolling deadline, however proposals should be sent as early in the calendar year as possible. For the most efficient review, all proposals should be factual, concise, and evidence strong leadership and sound administration and financial condition. Proposals should include the following:
  • Brief statement of history, goals and accomplishments to date
  • Amount requested
  • Concise description of the program, objectives, timetable and an itemized budget for the program
  • Concise description of how this program provides economic opportunity for women
  • Proposed line-item budget for this program
  • Organizations or corporations that have either committed or have been approached to fund this program, and the amounts contributed.
  • Plans for evaluating results.
  • Population and demographics served by percentage (ie: ethnicity, women etc.)

Proposals should also include the following documentation:

  • Internal Revenue Service tax-exemption letter 501(c)(3)
  • Current year’s budget showing anticipated expenses and income
  • Most recent audited financial statements
  • Current list of principal staff and governing board
  • Most recent annual report (if available)
All requests are screened, researched and evaluated by the Avon Foundation’s staff to ensure compliance and grant criteria. The Avon Foundation Board of Directors determines final approval for all proposals.

The Foundation does not contribute to the following:
  • Individuals for educational or other purposes
  • Memberships
  • Lobbying organizations
  • Political causes or candidates
  • Religious, veteran or fraternal organizations
  • Fundraising events, telethons, marathons or races
  • Journal advertisements
