  • Avon Malaysia’s Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign donated Mammotome Breast Biopsy machine to Putrajaya Hospital. Fundraising proceeds from the campaign also provided subsidized mammogram screenings for women in need.
  • Avon Philippines opened the Breast Care Center at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) with funds raised from its Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign and the Avon Foundation donated a mammogram machine to the clinic.
  • Avon Indonesia donated funds raised from its Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign to the Indonesia Cancer Foundation marking its fifth donation to this foundation. Fundraising proceeds also funded breast cancer early detection programs.
  • Avon Japan and the Japan Society of Breast Health co-sponsored the “Walk for Breast Cancer 2003” to raise awareness of the importance of early detection. The event held at the Osaka Castle Park attracted 2,000 participants who also took part in educational lectures on breast cancer and attended an exhibition/consultation booth on women’s health.
  • Avon Japan’s “2003 Avon Group Support” program distributed grants to 15 women’s organizations that contribute to women’s health and well-being. Grantees’ activities included support for victims of domestic violence, working mothers, children with learning difficulties, elderly, and handicapped women. Since this program began in 1983, Avon has given financial support to 293 women’s organizations across Japan.
  • On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Avon China donated RBM 2 million worth of Avon health-related products to the China Charity Federation and local heath bureaus. The donation supports front-line medical staff battling SARS in 74 major and medium sized cities where Avon branches operate.


  • The Avon United Kingdom Breast Cancer Crusade donated $2.5 million to the Breakthrough Toby Robbins Breast Cancer Research Centre in London. Avon’s fundraising originally helped to establish the centre in 1999 in partnership with the Institute of Caner Research. Avon has partnered with the U.K. Breakthrough Breast Caner organization since 1992.
  • Avon Hungary donated over $111,000 to nine cancer research teams, the result of a fundraising campaign launched on Avon’s Global Day of Commitment. Further, the Avon One-Day Walk for Life attracted over 2,000 participants and raised nearly $102,000 towards the purchase of a mammography machine for the Ödön Jávorszky Hospital in the town of Vác. The new machine will support a mobile examination center, which will help increase the hospital’s capacity to reach more women in need.
  • Avon Czech Republic third annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in 2003 attracted approximately 4,500 participants and raised nearly $85,000. The funds were donated to four organizations: The Alliance of Czech Breast Cancer Associations, Project Hope, The Helpline, and the Women for Women project.
  • The Vision Group, an organization of employees from Avon Spain dedicated to raising funds and awareness of the breast cancer cause, presented a check of more than $80,000 to the Spanish Cancer Association. The group donated funds raised from the sale of pink ribbon pins sold exclusively by independent Avon sales representatives, Zone Managers and Avon employees.
  • The Great Campaign for Life, Avon Poland’s breast cancer crusade celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2003. It’s first charity concert, “Let’s Unite in Hope” held in October of 2002 was attended by over 2,000 people and raised more than $82,000 for the breast cancer cause with additional funds coming from the sale of pink ribbon products and concert CDs.
  • More than 10,500 women from 44 countries participated in Avon Germany’s annual Avon Running 5km/10km event making it the largest women’s running event in German history. This year’s run reinforced Avon’s commitment to the breast cancer cause with the Avon-supported breast cancer organization handing out information to the 180,000 spectators.
  • In 2003, Avon Ireland, along with Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, launched its Breast Cancer Crusade at an official ceremony at Government House in Dublin. Proceeds from the sale of the Avon Crusade pin will fund the Aftercare Research Counseling Cancer Support Center in Dublin to help women suffering from breast cancer.
  • Avon Slovak Republic advanced the breast cancer cause through the Ready OKEY Leto 2003 summer festival. This year’s festival attracted 28,000 people and a portion of all ticket sales went to benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Two large Avon tents provided attendees with information about the breast cancer cause and the Avon Crusade.


  • In 2003, Avon Brazil inaugurated the Avon Institute to guide social investments in women’s health and well-being and support activities and the area of corporate social responsibility. It’s major objective will be to support and develop projects aimed at fighting breast cancer.
  • Avon Brazil funded four non-profit organizations providing breast cancer services to medically underserved women. As a result, more than 100,000 women will benefit from the educational and early detection and prevention programs the Avon funding will provide. Two of the institutions will receive mammography machines installed in buses that will travel to small cities offering women clinical exams and mammograms.
  • More than 4,000 women participated in the Avon Central America “Just for Women” runs designed to advance the importance of exercise for women and to raise funds for the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. This was Guatemala’s third annual run and the second for El Salvador attracting 2,200 and 1,150 participants respectively. The 2003 race marked Honduras’ first event attracting an impressive 700 runners.

  • The Avon Foundation supports ten of the top breast cancer research and care institutions in the United States.
  • The new Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence at Grady Health System opened in 2003 due in part to funding from the Avon Foundation to establish the Comprehensive Beast Center. The Avon Foundation was the first and only corporate partner of the Georgia Cancer Coalition with a $3.3 million gift in 2000. In total, the Avon Foundation has awarded $7.5 million to The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University School of Medicine and the Grady Health system.
  • The Avon Foundation in partnership with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) created The Avon Foundation-AACR International Scholars in Breast Cancer Research program designed to increase the quality of research an clinical care for women in disadvantaged countries.
  • Avon Canada launched its 2003 Breast Cancer Crusade – Reason for Hope – which will raise funds for breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention.
  • Since 2000, CancerCare has received more than $11 million for “The AvonCares Program for Medically Underserved Women.” This program provides financial assistance, education, and support services to low-income, underserved, under- and uninsured women throughout the U.S. CancerCare is the largest national non-profit organization of its kind, providing free professional support services including counseling, education, financial assistance and practical help to people across the country.
  • The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series of fundraising events launched in 2003 has raised and donated $4.35 million to cancer centers and medical organizations located in Washington DC, Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, San Francisco and Portland, OR. Walks are scheduled in September for Los Angeles and New York.
  • To help support the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces serving in Iraq, Avon’s independent sales representatives raised funds through the sale of a special yellow ribbon pin. Funds raised through the Avon Foundation Yellow Ribbon Fund will help support counseling and education services for families at home.
  • Since 2004, the Avon Foundation has raised and donated more than $1.4 million in cash and much needed personal care products to the USO’s Operation USO Care Package program. A registered 501(c)(3) U.S. nonprofit charitable organization, the Operation USO Care Package program distributes care packages to service members deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq and other overseas locations, as well as troops arriving and departing on rest and recuperation flights.
  • Similarily in 2001, the Avon Foundation established the Avon Heart of America Children’s Charity funded by proceeds of the Avon Heart of America pin sold by independent U.S. sales representatives. In 10 days, $7 million was raised which was directed children’s programs that provided counseling, education, childcare and related services to those affected by the terrorist attacks. Avon’s overall contributions totaled $9 million, which included cash donations to the American Red Cross and matching employee cash contributions through the company’s Matching Gifts Program, and product donations to Gifts In Kind International.
