Avon Products, Inc. (Avon) was founded in 1886 and has grown to become the world's largest direct seller of beauty and beauty-related products, with nearly $11 billion in annual revenue in 2012. The company is headquartered in New York City, where the company was founded.

Avon products are marketed to women through more than 6 million active independent Avon Sales Representatives. The products are available in over 100 countries. As of December 2012, Avon had direct-sales operations in 65 countries and territories and was distributing products in 43 additional countries and territories via distribution partners and licensees. In 2010, Avon had commercial business units in Latin America; North America; Central and Eastern Europe; Western Europe, Middle East and Africa; Asia Pacific; and China. In 2011, China became part of the Asia Pacific business unit, and in 2012, the two European regions were combined into one unit: Europe, Middle East & Africa.

*Effective in the second quarter of 2012, the Dominican Republic was included in Latin America, whereas in prior periods it had been included in North America. Avon's core beauty products and related brands, such as Avon Color, ANEW, Skin-So-Soft, Advance Techniques, Avon Naturals, and mark., represent 71 percent of the company's business. Also, Avon offers a growing line of fashion, jewelry, accessories, home and children's products. In addition to the extensive Avon costume jewelry offerings, in 2010, Avon acquired Silpada Designs, Inc., the largest direct seller of sterling silver jewelry, with operations in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. In the same year Avon also acquired the U.K.-based company Liz Earle Beauty Co. Limited, a privately held brand of naturally active skincare products sold primarily through direct-to-consumer channels.
